Imo the next gen if it arrives can't receive a bunch of "nice but slow" reviews unless it comes at a low price point. Notice the supra, which is really fast, recieving upgrades in its 2nd year.

So according to the article, new model will be 30mm taller, 15mm narrower and a few mm shorter.

Just what we want, taller and narrower. Lol

Porsche teamed up with Harley for the V-Rod.

Ended up not going anywhere.

No big mysteries why car companies team up more no. It is the only way they can get the development costs through their Board of Directors. They are not going to spend money developing new ICE engines or independently reinventing what other companies already have. In cooperation they can take the best from each, combine it into something that couldn't exist without the other and save shitloads of money doing it.
Hell even the most recent gen of the venerable Miata is a joint venture!

The Japanese used to be big on engineering for the sake of engineering particularly in the motorcycle industry. With a few exceptions it's now becoming a refinement and or parts bin approach. Not necessarily a bad thing just a little less exciting

They (and the Germans) are still big on engineering for the sake of engineering but it is just not projects that the people on forums like this want to hear about or acknowledge.
HMMMM I wonder where they are focusing their attention and capital investments?

"PLANO, Texas (April 1, 2020) – Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) today reported March 2020 sales of 135,730 vehicles, a decrease of 36.9 percent on a volume basis and down 31.8 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis versus March 2019."

"March total hybrid vehicle sales were 12,882 units, up 9.0 percent of a volume basis and up 17.7 percent of a DSR basis, led by RAV4 Hybrid and Corolla Hybrid"

More like the other way around really. Electric motors are the pretty much the ideal linear power delivery system.

I'd believe an N/A 2.4L with 220-230hp, no chance it'll get a turbo engine. The turbo 2.4L would completely steal the 2L supra market share. Lighter, faster, and more interior space, no one would give the low end supra a look at all.
They can always market the Supra as a more luxurious 86. After all, isn't that what the G37 was? Just a luxurious 370z. Some people want comfort and sportiness. Enough people complain about the cheapness and road noise from the twins as it is.

Naw, next gen Supra is going to be a five passenger, two door sedan with a push rod V8. They have to build it so the Stock Car Fans can drive one to the track to watch the race version.
