Many of the true JDM TRD parts can only be ordered with an approved VIN number from a car that had them originally. The add on parts of course are not covered by that. I would think that they will be available for a while at least. If you wantta pay the price that is.
You mean it's VIN locked over in Japan?

What about the parts listed in https://www.trdparts.jp/product/86/price.html

Is there a difference between the parts on this list vs the parts that came OEM with the trd editions in japan?

they also have similar offerings for the zenki models too with the exception of the carbon fibre fender fins being discontinued.

Man a bunch of dealerships have some 2020's available in their showrooms here, all in different colours (minus silver and neptune). I'd like to see them but this damn quarantine....

Im curious about the new grey (called pavement) which apparently is a bit lighter than the asphalt grey. Still want the Oceanic...(GT, MT Oceanic....one dealer has a 2020 model)

Im hoping these cars go unsold for awhile so by the time I can actually go look at them i may be in a position to seriously consider purchasing (pre owned 18+ GT Manuals dont seem to be showing up much if at all)

If you hold out a couple of months you will probably be able to get some smoking deals. Ford and FCA are already giving huge rebates and the rest will have to compete. Once this clears up and all the incentives to try and recover the economy kick in would be a great time to buy a new car.
great opinion

In a few months you will be able to get a smoking deal IF you want a base model econobox or pickup truck. You may have to take what you can get though.

Many of those parts may indeed be VIN locked. Of course they will not let you actually order them if they are.
I can't read what it says of course but from the English headings it would appear that many of those parts are what came OEM.

Japanparts and blackhawkjapan seems to both offer the aero pieces for both zenki and kouki models pre painted and unpainted. The prices of the pieces aren't that bad compared to other JDM aero offerings. Just shipping and duties make it quite pricey to make the car look a bit more unique.

Hi, new member here. Ive been eyeing the Hakone edition since Feb. The best offer I got so far is $29k before TTL for an automatic. If I wait longer do you think I can get a better price or do you think people will start snatching them up when they realize the state of the auto industry?

I doubt the price will get much 'better.' If you want the Hakone, then I suggest getting it sooner than later. If you want another trim twin, then maybe wait to see how prices shake out.

This is a low volume car. The pandemic is likely to land you barely any kind of deal on any new BRZ/86.

Now, if you were buying a Corolla or an Elantra, that might be a completely different story.

The stock on the ground is probably all they will see for the 2020 model year. When (or if) that is made official all bets are off on what deals you will get. If the demand grows as the supply dwindles the prices will only go up.
It is a crap shoot but waiting is pretty risky with the current state of the industry.

I agree with others and would add. What’s more important to you, getting the car now and enjoying it or holding out to save a few bucks, where the uncertainty is much higher than a normal time and there may or may not be a deal or car to be had.

I buy things and keep them, so $1000 saved over time means less to me then having what I want, when I want it and enjoying it.

When I am lukewarm on a purchase I always wait for a better deal and many times change my mind and don’t purchase or move on to something else.

It really is a personal decision.

[QUOTE=vicious_cb;3331066]Hi, new member here. Ive been eyeing the Hakone edition since Feb. The best offer I got so far is $29k before TTL for an automatic. Buy it. Mine was $29,773 minus $1K rebate, + TT&L, for at MT. Dealers will generally drop price in 30 day intervals, but I doubt they'll get much cheaper than that. There were ~2 to 1 autos to MTs 5 weeks ago when I was shopping. Finding an auto was much easier. It's a buyers market, and I'd be surprised to see any more Hakones added to US inventory. More likely to see a few more non SE cars. Hopefully, sales will pick up soon. Anyone wanna buy a LC 500 ?

vicious_cb If you want the Hakone get it.

There were 6 (manual trannys) in my area (I'm fairly sure) back in Feb.

Now there are 2.
