Mix of F1 drivers, commentators, online personalities, celebs. Lando as gone all in with twitch streaming. He shaved his head on a bet if he got enough followers. |

On this day May 8, 1982, F1 Lost a great one : Gilles Villeneuve
I can remember that day as if yesterday! Story time: I had been following his exploits since mid 70’s and had began attending the annual F1 race weekends in Mtl. On that unfortunate day I had just arrived on the outskirts of Paris (Samois-Sur-Seine) to start a month long trip around Europe with my Ant & Uncle and one of their friends. They made this out to be quite the cheap trip for a young me in return for my pictures of them having fun (my Ant was a fan of my photography at the time) and a bit of driving. We had just been picked up from the airport by their good friends and business acquaintances earlier and were feasting on some typical French appetisers at their cozy cottage & I was falling asleep on local champagne when he then opened up the TV in time to see some qualifying at Zolder, he was a motor sport fan and knew I may be interested in the crazy Canuck driving for Ferrari! Still quite Jetlagged did not really understand what had just happened in those next few minutes it was quite graphic before they cut out. GV had pushed just too far to try to out qualify his team-mate. The TV got shut off. Next day we picked up our Wheels for the trip a 1968 British plated(RHD) VW camper van with Webber carbs. It had been in storage for 6 months at their friends place. I got to drive pretty much ¾ of the time being the most at ease with a manual and immune to the horns around us to get out of the way. We kept getting reminded throughout the trip of his loss by the people we met. Somewhere around Lago di Como having a picnic we met up with 3 young teachers driving in a red Alfa Roméo Alfetta GT. They proceeded to tease us as we spoke no Italian, my ant had possibly provoked them earlier to jump into the cold lake and my uncle gave them each a cigar said it was a souvenir from Canada and told them to move on… They left & came back 30 minutes later with a few Wine bottles that got promptly opened; there was a mention of Gilles and Ferrari in their conversation. Took me a few years before I returned as a F1 spectator at the now renamed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. I had lost my first F1 Hero that day. Salut Gilles! |

Vettel officially out: https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/52612216
Of course everyone is talking about Ricciardo and Sainz, but I think Kimi might make sense also, as that would basically give Ferrari another year to consider their options. |

I would like to see Rick on the Red team as well.
I kind of see this latest rumor as logical as well: https://www.planetf1.com/news/carlos-sainz-ferrari-4/ My big question is What will Seb do now? retire and enjoy his family or try McLaren ? |

Sainz to Ferrari would make more sense than Ricciardo. Ric's personality doesnt scream Ferrari. I doubt Ferrari wouldn't take well to his shenanigans.
I would like Ric at Mclaren. Can you imagine the humor that would be Lando and Ric? lol. Mclaren could then test their drivers throughout 2020 (maybe) to see who they want to commit to as #1 for 2021. Seb should retire. It is unfortunate that it isnt when he is at his best but he has been a disaster recently. You cant be in a Ferrari and make those mistakes.

They only wanted to give him 1 year contracts, imho they want a seat warmer and Gio is perfect and cheap and opens up the seat for them to evaluate an F2 driver at Alfauber in 2021, they have 4 of them right now, 5 if you count Mick Schumacher but he's probably too Junior unless he wins a lot in F2 this year.
Charles looks very good after last year, but I think any of the non-Hamilton drivers would be capable of challenging him at least as much as Vettel has; Bottas, Sainz, Ric, Hulk, and last year's rookies; Norris, Albon, and Russell. There's so many drivers off contract though, there's a lot of possibilities, talent pool is deep in F1 right now imho, the only drivers I'd probably turn away are Gasly and Latifi. |
