Oh, yes, back when I was a young man, we had some kids that didn't want to work so we offered them an alternative, they could go fight a different type of "invisible" enemy.

I'm pretty sure they didn't care which kids wanted to work or not.

yeah, i've long since figured out it's more important that i stay busy. free time means time for personal projects, and none of them end up cheap!

oh, if my boss knew half the things i did 'off the clock'... but right now i'm babysitting/i mean working with/ the lower level guy that just doesn't get it. i'm more productive in an hour after he goes home than i am all day.

Lol I guess my 'fun project' budget on the clock is a whole lot more than off the clock so that may be part of it for me, though occasionally I do wish I could just spend time on my own fun stuff. Right now I get to be somewhat experimental at work so it keeps me interested. The fun factor would definitely drop off if I had to do mundane stuff (which is why I actually left my last job).

The half I don't like is, coincidentally, holding hands and herding cats. Especially when said hands and cats are traditionally senior to me. Oh, and waiting on progress bars to time out because certain organizations can't seem to do IT right...

The result, I am also far more productive after everyone goes home/logs off.

To me, the breakdown is in your company management, not the medical field et. al.
