Well, I tried to convince the horse breeders to breed in an optional reverse lockout but they said they couldn't do that -

That's very interesting, so if the breeders had agreed then how would you tell which steed had the option so early in its lifecycle?

Easy enough, just put a barrel in the exercise ring, let the foal into the ring and see it it backs into it.

I see, sounds like you've seen a few foal/filly barrel interfaces.. I'm glad the breeders ignored your "helpful" suggestion as they would be looking at damaged goods with potential buyers going through each foal/filly until they got a good'un..

Good job under the circumstances. Next time try pinstripes, just use a thinner brush but you'll have to stop them idling..

Yep, I have some experience with young 4 legged creatures. Brings to mind, back in the day, the time me and my buddy were going to raise a couple of bovine to slaughter for meat. Yep, they were going to be corn fed. My buddy lived on a small ranch near Fresno, CA. I was manager of an ag research station south of San Jose. I would grow corn, fill up the pickup truck and take it over to feed the two steers.

Well, on one trip over, my buddy said that one of the steers had an infection and needed a shot once a week for several weeks. That was going to be expensive so we decided that WE would buy a large shot needle and convince the vet to sell us the medicine and we would give the steer the shots.

So, came time for its first shot. Now, keep in mind that these two steers were black angus and were born and raised on the open range. Also, they weighed about 300 lbs. each. My buddy tried to warn me that they were "wild" range stock. I said, no problem. Just fill up the syringe and hand it to me after I used a gate to "squeeze" the steer in a corner of a stall.

HOLY SHIT! That puppy just didn't "squeeze", like the tame herefords back on the farm in Ohio. - Not only did the animal knock the gate out of my hands, it attacked me .... then other other one attacked me.

OK, if you insist. We finally roped that beast drug it's head through the stall slats and gave it the shot.

Now, a couple of weeks later, we decided to let the steers out of their stall into a lot for exercise. My buddy felt that the double strand of "hot wired" fence would keep them in. WRONG! Those two steers hit the opening of the stall and didn't stop! They didn't know (or care) that they hit a hot wire.

So now, we have two semi wild steers running around in the neighbors cotton field. My buddies wife came out and said, "what are you two hot shot ranchers gonna do now, except have another drink?" -

So, we called up another neighbor that had a horse and his son rode over and chased down the steers, roped them and drug them back to the stall.

We're getting close to the end, but now, I have to go vacuum the carpeting in the house.
