Cadillac has committed to producing the CT4 and CT5 V Blackwing variants with manual transmissions when they come to market next year.

That will be your only choice in that market.

And by Cadillac's track record they'll be sure to bring up the rear of the segment.

The BMW M2 and M3 will have a manual option for the coming generation.

Huh? The previous CTS-V was pretty top of the class. Very competitive as an overall package, and the CTS and ATS were better handling cars than their BMW peers....

Us car enthusiasts have long memories, and our biases. Unfortunately Cadillac can't erase the memory of the crap they built for 30 years starting in the 80's.

I would take a modern day Cadillac (last and current gen) over pretty much anything in the same price range/market segment.

His wording is ironic b/c their "track" oriented vehicles are top notch. Great track record...

I still find it funny when people claim Hyundai or Kia's are luxury vehicles. I see lots of mashed up stolen, styling bits on basic commuter cars fluffed up to appear upscale. The plastic chrome bits and fit and finish of the stinger are atrocious in person. I will admit some of their drivetrains are decent performers, but the cars are still economy cars. Not sold on the luxury badge.

GM cars that are meant to be fast are always fast. GM probably has the best chassis engineers in the industry.

But as a car you have to drive on the road, possibly every day, they suck. The ATS was harsh and the interior was terrible.

In fact, I can't think of a single Cadillac interior that isn't chintzy and cheap. even the escalade.

That has definitely always been a weakpoint, but I think you'll see the next gen stuff addressing that. You can already see some of that in the C8. It is definitely starting to show up in the preproduction shots of the upcoming new Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade family as well.

Final judgement held until I actually see one of course.

True, but I feel like they're always one more generation away from getting it right. When the C7 came out everyone was saying:'Finally they got the interior right!'
Turns out it wasn't quite there still.

Like you said, we can judge once we see them in person.

When their chassis engineers want to tune a car for compliance, they do a good job with that as well. I've been pleasantly surprised by the balance of comfort and sportiness in some of GM's other cars.

This right here. They are perpetually one generation away from a quality interior since as long as I can remember. I have not been in a C8, but I have never sat in a GM car where I actually thought it had a high quality, nicely laid out interior.

I almost got a Camaro SS instead of my 86 but I couldn't get over the interior. The seats were so bad and the retro inspired interior styling was just ugly imho.

Of course, we do own a car where there was about zero thought put into interior design (well except for the seats) so we can only complain so much.

I honestly like our interior. It's simple and functional, buttons/screens/dials are where they are easy to find, and it's not overstyled, yet not bland at the same time. The materials are nice and most surfaces don't feel like cheap hard plastic.

I find it refreshing compared to cars these days and it reminds me a lot of my old E46.
