Very odd that you're getting 28mpg on the highway at those speeds. I get over 30mpg combined 10/90 city/hwy, with highway speeds being 75-80mph. Highway only I'm around 33.
If you were at 3200 rpm with 4.1 gears, you should be at 3350 with 4.3 at the same speed, not 3500. Hard to believe, but given your cruise rpm and mileage, clutch slip?

My millage dropped when I went from 4.1 to 4.3

I had always hoped that North America would have the availability to purchase the Motorsports Basic editions that were sold in Japan...complete with factory FIA roll cage, no unneeded bits like A/C or Airbags or interior trim...came on steely wheels and with unpainted bumpers...

But I don't use mine the same as most people...LOL

Of the 150,000 miles on my car I would guess that 110,000 of them were on cruise.

Fuel economy wasn't even a thought when I was shopping for a car and picked this one it was just an unexpected side effect. (I had everything from the FRS to a ZL1 Camaro to a Corvette to a CTS-V Wagon on my list and several other cars and trucks in-between).

It just happens that 90% of my driving falls between 45 and 65MPH with relatively few stops which seems to be the car's sweet spot.

Stock from the beginning. I don't baby it, nearly always hit red-line every time it's fully warmed up. What gives?

Did you change tires? Stickier tires will make a difference.

By those prerequisites you won’t like any luxury cars from other brands either. The Stinger could be a nice replacement for the wife’s GLK down the road.
