trouble reading with oft
Hey guys. I bought a new oft v2 for my used 2016 FRS. Everything is fine running up to the point after I click read. It gives me an oftcode 10003 which has lead me to believe that the ecu is locked by a previous tune. I tried taking the car to the toyota dealership and they said the ecu hasn't been touched by the previous owner and that they were able to access the ecu fine. I'm able to receive the real time diagnostics and ECU info. I tried the process multiple times checking for secure connections but I keep getting the same results. Any help or suggestions would be great!

ok it does sound like its been tuned with brzedit or ecutek and ecu is locked. The toyota guys likely just did diagnostics and didnt try to write the ecu. there tool only writes it has no read. If oft doagnostics works that confirms oft is talking to ecu if its ecutek it might be multi map tune. with engine running and cruise control switched OFF, pull the cruise stalk towards you and hold for a few seconds. see if the tachometer jumps to 1000,2000,3000,4000 if it does its ecutek tune. if it doesnt its eitger single map ecutek or brzedit |

Ok if tacometer jumped to 1000, then its definitly ecutek tune. which is good news as ecutek is much more popular than brzedit and the ecutek licience in ecu is worth $300 USA |

Your best option may be to see if you could return oft or sell it. Then either get an ecutek tune or buy an ecutek cable |
