The camera comes with a very long power cord, 12v cig socket. I've run that from the center console under the rug, up the trim on the side of the car. It's fine that way, can barely tell it's there.

For the permanent install I've ordered this:

I want the parking surveillance feature, in order to do it the camera requires power all the time. This box shuts the camera down when the battery voltage dips too much or a time limit expires, and I can run the power right from the fuse box to the camera.

FYI guys their is a 12v outlet in the glove box so if you dont want to run it to the center console you also do that.

There is?! Almost two months of owning this car, and I'm still finding out new stuff about it. What can I say, I'm too busy driving to be poking around in the glovebox or playing with the radio.

It's hard to find but it's there. I keep a rechargable flashlight plugged into mine.

If you're mounting it up by the mirror there is also the option of tapping into the power connector for auto-dimming mirrors. Several people have done this for rader detectors.

So, for it to work properly in "park surveylance" mode you need that other part? Can you get this in US? from what I"ve looked on Ebay, most of them are sold in another country.

I remember someone saying that his car got vandalized in the city, same poster?
This is probably a good solution, but does the camera rotate? What if something happens out of view?

That was me. Camera doesn't rotate but the coverage is pretty decent.

BTW, I took two photos of the install this morning but my phone didn't feel like keeping them. I'll get another batch up tomorrow.

You don't need it. If you wire the camera to have power all the time it will work for parking mode, but someone mentioned that after 48 hours it will have drained your battery. The device will run the camera until the voltage drops to a point you select, and then cut the power.

You can buy this in the US, it just costs more. The unit from korea is the same unit but cheaper.

I've had this camera in my other car since March and love it. The quality is pretty damn good, especially at night.

Compare that to the GoPro HeroHD V1, which is an exceptional camera IMO:

Since the Blackvue has loop recording, there is absolutely no point in running a larger memory card. Each clip is about 3 minutes long (unless there is an event), and you can program it to keep all even recordings regardless of how old they are. I have mine wired to an add-a-circuit in the fuse box of my other car. It lasts about a week in parking mode before fulling draining the battery. Here is mine installed:

There is a purple LED that glows when its in parking mode (you can program different colors), it confuses many people. I live in a somewhat small town, but you can turn the light off entirely if it gains too much attention.

I do find that the microphone is very sensitive though, as evidenced in the videos.

EDIT - YT videos dont auto-embed?

Thanks for your information, looks like I may order this. I haven't heard of anything else out there comparable, has anyone else?

What concerns me is the fact the it can wear down the battery in park surveylance mode, that other device just shuts it off. Would you know if there is a way around this? Also, you said it doesn't rotate, however, I assume if you are parked, you can spin it around to face a spcefic area of car for better security right? Thank you again.

Check out the DoD GS600 too.

You can rotate the camera around, but it will be recording upside down.
