Headers & OverPipe
Hey guys, I’m new so I apologize if I make any mistakes in posting on the forums. I have a 2013 FRS, recently I installed headers, which followed by a clunking sound, it looks like my overpipe is hitting my frame. I’ve tried wrapping the overpipe in heat wrap to soften it up, it lasted for about a week and the clunking noise is back there again. At this point idk what to do whether to go back to stock headers or get a different overpipe for the car. Any recommendations or advice?

What's the header and overpipe you have installed? Maybe try unbolting them and seeing if you can adjust it up a little.

Stiffer motor mounts are the common fix. Not always a guarantee, sometimes shit just don't quite fit right.

The engine does seem to shake a bit, & the noise does go away if i press down on the engine. Do you have any mounts you recommend? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t actually know the brand. It was a gift from a friend. I plan on trying to adjust them, if it doesn’t work, I think I might plan on going back to stock overpipe just so I can stop the clanking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The STI mounts are a common upgrade. They are stiffer than stock, but not overly so.

No. The only one I've heard that people insist needing is the ACE. I find it rather ironic that aftermarket headers would need up-rated motor mounts considering they're supposed to be lighter than the stock manifold.

It has nothing to do with weight. It has to do with the massively larger dimensions of the header compared to stock.

Kidding. This cooping up is making me irritable. But that makes sense. Still, outside the a couple exhaust pieces, I've never had a fitment issue.
