OK, the day is grocery shopping day. I'll leave the house as soon as I get my agoraphobia under control. My dilemma is to whether to go to Walmart or Safeway.

At Walmart, I'm more familiar with the layout of the store, thus I could reduce my exposure time and prices are less expensive, however, it would be more crowded with the "unwashed" masses.

At Safeway it would take me longer to find stuff and it is more expensive, but it would be less crowded with a higher class of (read - more washed) people.

Any thoughts?

Well now, that's a good suggestion.

However, she is working from home today (thus the grandkids aren't here), monitoring two home schooled pre and teen ager girls, plus keeping track of an overactive 3 ager.

I'm afraid that if I called her up and ask her to do the grocery shopping for me, that would push her over the edge -

Well then, that puts you in a bit of a pickle. My SOP is always to go wherever there are less people. But that applies in normal times too so...

I think the clues in the name of the store.. go the 'safe way'.. little extra cost for a peaceful mind.. BTW, Safeway in the UK is not a "higher-class" shopping experience.

I go shopping for my in-laws now (they're low 70s). Don't go to Walmart. Actually, that's good advice even in normal times.... Go for the more expensive store.
I hit Sprouts Monday morning when they opened at 7. I had one of 6 cars in the parking lot, and easily maintained a 30-foot social distancing the entire time, except the cashier. They had everything on the list too, but were out of tp of course. About a third of the other customers were wearing masks.
