This thread is great! You make it look so easy. I'm trying to imagine myself doing things that you do and I am still overwhelmed.

Here I am contemplating weather to replace the engine myself of have a mechanic do it for me. I believe that I am mechanically inclined myself but trying to anticipate should the car not crank/start after replacing the engine is what worries me.

When you buy used engines, do you perform a test like a compression test before purchasing?

We buy complete cars, some to rebuild, some for parts. We've only bought 1 non-running (hydrolocked) car.
