Since they didn't have office space for me at the research center they paid me to build an office at my home (so I added a room). Yes, I found that it did take some self-discipline. This was before computers were everywhere, so it was FAX or phone or jump in my company car and travel to the various universities and USDA research facilities (OK, I flew to HI). That was a tough tour of duty - ![]() (that was my office, stuck onto the master bedroom) humfrz |

1. Being able to claim the company had "the most experienced people" working on one thing or another because their resumes looked impressive to people not familiar with the "promoting out of the way" practice. 2. Increasing the cost and therefore budget of a project (and therefore profit and prestige). 3. High-value layoff fodder. Ok and 4. Idiots to make fun of at lunchtime. Ah good times.... Anyway, these people's income was usually twice as much as everyone actually doing the work and it was infuriating. Edit:. Forgot to mention they had engineering titles. I suppose that is the particularly offensive part. Last edited by Spuds; 03-19-2020 at 12:41 AM. |

Always wanted to try one of those things out (between Vegas or the one in LA I think?), never got time when I was out there. My neighbor's adult son did rent a 458 for his birthday so I did get to sit in that.
