The curse continues! My neighbor was drunk and ran into me. I've got pictures and stuff. He said he wants to handle it out of pocket though, so I'm trying to find a good body shop to figure out how much it's gonna cost. It's the rear quarter panel though, so it's gonna be pricy. An easy $2k.

Oh goodness, this thread is painful, PAINFUL I say!

The amount of anger I would have if I was hit by somebody else... oh.. over nine-thousand for sure.

I have no clue how I maintained composure. I wish you guys could have seen the accident. It was so fucking stupid. The guy was trying so hard to not get me to do the insurance thing. I found a body shop though, gonna call them on Monday.

I understand why most people don't want to go through insurance to handle it; however, it's unfortunate that many people are shady about handling these things in a timely fashion -- if at all. Basically, I hope you don't get fucked over for trying to cut the guy a break.

My dad recently traded in his Sonata to get a new CR-V and within two weeks of owning it, had someone almost rear-end him and instead hit side mirrors and broke the mirror glass on the driver's side. Fortunately, that was the extent of the damage (damn resilient little things) but yeah, the guy was an older man and wanted to handle it outside of insurance. He did follow through though, so that was good but man...

Well the guy that hits me lives across from me, and works at my company as well. So if he tries to screw me I know where he lives, where he works, and I have witnesses to the entire accident as well as photos of his car and plates. So he's not walking away from paying me. We're also gonna sign a contract that says he's gonna pay it. I'm not letting anyone walk away from this since it's not my fault.

This isnt something that needs to be backed by factual evidence, its simply just a concept, an idea. Much like religion. Im not saying its going to magically keep his car safe, but instead reminding him that this is simply a car and it will depreciate. Btw your last sentence made absolutely 0 sense to me.

i know its an idea and i understand it but if someone said your car got scratched because you didnt believe in god, what would you say to them? doesnt make much sense in this application. and the last sentence was kind of referencing the placebo effect. i think you really do have control over how you feel and behave but i dont know if you can think your car to safety
