Is the profile of the wheel barrel itself different from other wheels to facilitate this?

Never heard of them. Any weights on the the wheels they carry. I read their intro thread and some of the weights seemed heavy. Defeating the purpose in most cases of going smaller/lighter |

For a lightweight 16 inch wheel, the Enkei 16x7 RPF1 is a good way to go. I have those Enkeis and a set of 17x8 BRAIDs for my own car. - Andrew |

They're a longtime manufacturer/supplier of wheels for the rally community. Strength over light weight is what's valued there. Top quality wheels; not cheap.

yes, Braid does have a line of forged wheels, but finding out actual weights is next to impossible.

.. for rally crowd .. which makes them good choice for winter wheels. Extra strength may help on bad roads, good brake clearance may allow running smaller diameter wheels, in turn allowing usage of cheaper winter tires with also higher profile for more comfort/compliancy/wheel protection.

16x7" +35 sportline P4 Rims, advertised weight was over 16 I scaled mine at 15.7, The Tires are 225/60 General GMax-AS-05, on the scale at work the tire combination weighed 6.8 pounds less per wheel/tire. I've had them on for a few days my impression of the 225/50r16 vs 215/45r17 is that the 16 inch wheel and tire set up is much more planted in the corner and during acceleration. There is a little loss in the steering response that was noticeable at first after driving the car for an hour or two I don't notice it anymore. Also once you start to get loose in a corner it's much easier to recover by backing off a little. Over all the 225 on a 16 is far better feeling than the 215 on a 17. Total cost for rims and tires was less than $1k. This comparison is vs the stock wheel and tire setup. I'm sure there is some better 17" or 18" rim setup with 295's on 1/2" tall sidewalls, it took me quite a bit of deliberation to go with the 16" wheel over a 17" wheel. At the end of the day I wasn't going to go over a 225 tire most likely or larger than a 7" rim. It would have cost me nearly 175% more to do that with a 17" wheel and keep the weight of the wheel and tire I have with the 16" wheel. Last edited by RuyGuy2; 03-13-2020 at 01:54 PM. |

Most rally wheels are more than 20lbs. A lot of subie guys use them as winters because weight and performance matter less. But summers you want lighter wheels.
