As Hum pointed out it is a car. Shit happens. You get it fixed. Life goes on. If you can't deal with that then professional help may be in order.
Nah...no psychologists are needed for us weirdos, just a good body/spray guy that takes pride in his work. They're out there.

Yes they are. And you can tell who they are by what I said before.

I can see the trepidation going into a new area and not knowing "a guy" or really anyone local.

There's two local body shops here. One is recommended by my insurance company.
The other is who the local car people patronize.

I wouldn't know the difference going in without talking to people over time.

Yeah, this ^ here is my problem. I suppose I could get it repaired back up in PA, but that would be quite inconvenient...

The reason I don't just want to go off straight internet reviews is that I think I might be a bit more particular about this than most internet reviewers. The plethora of "they were nice to me and I got my car back in a week:5 stars!" reviews don't really tell me a lot. I did the 'trust the reviews' thing my first go around many years ago with my Saab, and I don't think the paint matched particularly well for some reason. Then again, they did have a very clean and well organized shop so maybe I'm just too picky.

I'll give it some more thought this weekend...

Yes, I'm crazy.
We get our rebuilt cars sprayed by a shop that you (and most others in this thread) wouldn't give a chance.

We've never had a complaint on paint quality or matching. Except when Will didn't give a sample cause he threw out all the old parts.

I think the most we've paid for good hood, fender and bumper painting has been like $600 total.

My silver BRZ cost $350 IIRC to do the hood and bumper and it matches perfectly. The last BRZ bumpers I had painted by a well regarded shop was over $1k for front and rear bumpers. Also great work.. but I should have just saved several hundred.

There are always exceptions.

Sounds like I'm back to needing to find someone local to ask lol. Well, I'll call the local car dealer(s) and see who they recommend. Alternatively, I can wait for the local cars and coffee to start up. I suppose I could try to find the local car gurus on [shudder] Facebook...

Why wait! You can't go wrong here -

Brings to mind a story. Back in the day, my uncle owned a Chevrolet dealership in a small town in Ohio. In part of the basement of the garage part he had a paint/body shop. The shop was manned by one old guy that was always drunk. People would ask my uncle why he kept that old drunk employed. My uncle responded he kept him on because there wasn't anyone in the county that could paint a car as good as he could - as long as he was drunk.

So, my wife and I went for a walk around the neighborhood and behold! A nicely modded WRB BRZ sitting in in a driveway the next street over! Introduced myself as having a red FRS and explained my situation here. He told me who the local car-folk use for collision repair and who to avoid at all costs. Also gave me a link to the local cars and coffee page to meet some other folks later this month.

I call this a win for 86 nation.

the thing i love the most about the 86 is that any mods to them automatically indicate it's a 'car guy' car. the only other car that has a consistent feeling like that is the s2000.

Don't bother. It will need extensive mods soon anyway.

I like how that mustang has blades on the side so it can spin into a crowd sideways.
