I'm sure rebuilding the block is easier than getting the timing cover off. It's 12 degrees F here and even with a propane torch, I can't get the fujibond to let go. I've given up for today after spending 2 hours trying to pry it off and breaking one of the ears
I would also replace those so-called "safe" valve springs. Mine failed outside recall. It is a lot of work to take out the engine again just for valve springs.

That's for starting a project like that in the winter in Vermont.

Bubba suggests you put an electric space heater under the front of the engine and let it run on LO all night. Next morning take out the bolt for the timing cover that you didn't see before, then pop the cover off.

This is why I swapped the LS instead of rebuilding the boxer. I didn't think I could reliably fix the boxer, but I knew I could swap a motor... And I'm sure I can rebuild the LS when the time comes

Lightened my car slightly by cracking off the passenger-side visor. Quality Toyota parts.

You know, I don't think I've ever used either of my visors.

Due to the direction and times of my commute I get the rising or setting sun straight in the face for much of the year. I use both visors on a very regular basis.

Mine is the exact opposite (west in the morning, east in the evening)

I only use them to hold my sun visor in place. They are kind of like the rear seat belts; included just for standards and practice.
