Also to add the sad news... it's not good for Supra either. He won't be involved after 2021 or so (tentative). After that, Fukumoto-san gonna be doing the updates for the Supra. Now, don't get me wrong, Fukumoto-san is a great guy and have accomplished a lot of stuff inside GR... but he is like Tada-san? Nah, he's not. |

That seems bizarre. Engineering projects typically carry a ton of tribal knowledge (undocumented), and that's why it's vital to keep some key people on through different generations of a project.

Not so sure it works out well when the whole team is replaced though!

Now, Toyota is trying to cut off those PR ppl & let Tomoyama as main PR person. So after Tada-san is gone, we won’t find out who did what anymore. |

I’m curious if reassigning an engineering team has something to do with a change in direction for the platform. Perhaps they want to move to a electric/hybrid system. This could make sense since Toyota is trying to rebrand hybrids as performance cars and since Toyota and Subaru have teamed up for an electric global architecture.

Hell, Tada himself pitched the idea of a faster hybrid version to be more likely than a turbo when the 2012 was launched.

I think I got the same comments, but ever since Toyota announced the hybrid Rav4 as the top performance trim and why that concept was their new direction for marketing hybrids, I figured a hybrid powertrain could be in the works soon than later.
