Brings to mind a story of back in my Army days in Germany. We were sitting in a beer hall, which was the basement of the officers club. A new, gullible butter bar had joined our group and was complaining that the DA had changed the DOR (Date Of Rank) for ROTC commissioned officers in the spring of 1966 to put them one day behind the West Point graduates for that year.

A first LT friend of mine was sitting at the table, who happened to be a West Point graduate, tapped his West Point ring on the table and said "hell, DA". The 2nd LT turned to me and asked "can he really talk to the Department of the Army with that ring?".

Yep, that's a true story - ya just can't make stuff like that up -

It's amazing how you can make friends and connections with folks you've never met, and are likely not to meet. It will be a sad day when we start selling off our cars and fading from the scene.
