Would you guys prefer FB20 or FB25 for NA FT?
Which would you prefer between FB20 or FB25. Is one a better match to the car? FB25 is larger and would have more torque but also weigh more. Is the 2 liter the best fit?

How much more weight vs how much more potential?

although 2l is fine the option for a sporty 2.5l version would be nice. Also if they turbo the 2l the US may never see it and get stuck with just the 2.5l

Neither, the engine will be based off of one of those two engines but will require a slight re-design.

Ideally and put very simply a de-stroked (and 1.5-1.6 rod to stroke) FB25, with a beefier/smaller cylinder bore reduced to 2.0L with a higher compression ratio (11:1-12:1). AVCS, and D-4S. Revised heads, intake and exhaust manifold, camshaft. Optimized ignition and fuel mapping.

Interesting, I hadn't considered a de-stroked & higher revving FB25 being in the cards. Good call, I hope you're right!

I can't imagine a huge weight difference between the two.

Ditto, SOHC EJ20 & EJ25 weight pretty close.
Anyways back to the topic, 2.5L would be ideal tq for dd car... BUT I want nice 2L smooth high rev car. |

Cant say yet I havent driven a subaru with a FB yet, all this questions like what will you get toyota or subaru version? is a silly questions to me, no clear specs or numers yet as for my understanding the FT86 is only getting a 2.0liter.

I'd be DOWN with a 2.5 if it weren't just a stroked 2.0.

This might be a dumb question, but what is gained by destroking an engine (say from 2.5L to 2.0L) vs. boring a 1.8L to 2.0L? Do you gain something in the process (durability, revs, tq....etc.) or is a 2.0L a 2.0L? |
