I buckled down on adulting pretty hard last year at a cost of a social life. I hope to ease up. Trimmed out all social media and lost a ton of friends as a result so scaling back. I was able to recover from 2018 and buy another house and have pretty solid footwork for this year.

-Get both of my BRZ's finished. Afterwards, 1 must be sold.
-Wipe out 70% of my credit cart debts. Hoping for a good tax return will help check this one off.
-Restock my emergency fund/savings.
-35-40lbs before summer.
-Build/Finish more model kits than I purchase.
-Try not to let things bother me so much.

i've been in contact with the boss the whole week, usually everything on our part is planned out enough it's not a problem. he kept apologizing for the week being so short and for so much of a fiasco.. he keeps telling me i need to scale back how much i care. he's not completely wrong...

i was just reading an article about the trumpian changes to tax law. the TLDR of it is basically that refunds for the 2018 year were less than before, which should hold true for 2019 because they take less the rest of the year. said another way-- while the physical refund amount is less, we take home more across the full year. basically, don't expect too much in the way of a refund as you might have been expecting pre-2018 due to the changes.

tax law and legal proceedings are always 2 steps removed from voodoo and schoolyard bullying to me...

if you figure out the secret to that last part, let me know!

lolol... Actually, a couple of the teeth for the seat adjustment mechanism have broken on the driver's side so I've been concerned that eventually something will give. I know that I'm at the high end of the design capacity.

But you guys are right. For years, I've been thinking about what technique would give me the best odds for success.

I never had a problem with either brz to removing seats. Just got the e-torx socket set from harbor freight, and used a wrench to remove the seat bolts. No more or less painful than any other vehicle. I put my amp under the passenger seat...

The worst part of all of it was removing the torx airbag-activated seatbelt bolt on the first one after the accident to get my amp and wiring back(reused all of it in the new car).

As for 2020 it's starting out shite!
Just before the holidays I received a phone call from a lady at Revenue Canada. Now there have been a lot of tax scams via telephone going around so I was very sceptical. She asked if I was willing to answer some personal questions over the phone and I said, “No I was not.” Her reply was, “As you have indicated no, I cannot continue this conversation. I will send you a letter outlining what we need from you.” A couple of days later I received notification of new mail in the “My Account” at Service Canada.
Yep, you guessed it. They want all my slips so they can review my 2018 return. Oh joy, NOT!

Not really expecting anything magical. But, sometimes with debt when you get a major break in it, it makes me more motivated to squash it.

It's kind of like how on a car loan that is 40k you might not feel like paying that extra bit right off the bat as there is still a big balance. Once that balance gets to less than $5k you realize you could throw extra towards it and have less than 5 payments until freedom. Kind of like a sprint to the finish. "A ball rolls easier down hill."

As far as the last part, I'm working on that. Millennials might be onto something with that mental health day and positive surroundings thing.

For starters less work. Since 2018 I've had 2, 40+hour full-time jobs. My main workplace gave me The 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years off. 0 personal days, 0 vacation and 0 sick days. So going back to one place of employment and taking some time off is a huge change already.

If not coke. Probably can loose the weight faster that way too.

So, old man, how old are you?

How about applying for a school bus drivers job? That works for me - but the pay is non existent and I just wind up with gas bills -

Oh yes, about Service Canada. I suggest you play your senior card - "I can't remember where I put them - ".

@humfrz, best of luck with the smoking.

The wife, kid and I are joining a gym. I'm going to try to shed 20lbs, and work on leg strength and flexibility. I want to be able to get in and out of my cars for a couple more decades.
