One of my first prints was an alternate spool holder that had a printed thread/nut. I didn't design the model myself but I quickly learned how important it was to calibrate the dimensional accuracy and extrusion rate of my printer for parts like this...

It is just an Ender 3. I am using Tinkercad right now as it is pretty beginner friendly and I am hoping it leads to work paying for me to take classes for Solidworks. It's my first dabble into this and I have been enjoying it a lot.

It can be a management issue but that all depends on the whole picture so automatically pointing the finger is not accurate.

Damn, I thought my work had faster turn around... but 3~4 a month is a lot. We have 3~4 every 6 months (ave). Just depends on the season, ppl quit in whole chunk. Late summer, we had 13 ppl quit in 2 months. But again, most of the ppl quit is college student or younger kids, so it makes sense, cuz their schedule doesn't work w their new semester or their life.

Right on I have an Ender 3 pro myself.

I'm currently teaching myself how to use Fusion 360. I'm a pro at 2d AutoCAD and Sketchup but sadly sketchup is not so great for making printable objects.

It's definitely addicting once you dial it in and get a few successful prints!

That is what I am finding out too. I'm always looking for stuff I can print, right now I am doing a fill panel for my bosses car, and a throttle pedal spacer and switch panel for my car. I have been able to print prototypes for work which also makes my job go along a lot faster.

I tried Sketchup, but with needing plugins to do simple things like export to .stl I scratched that early on. Tinkercad is very limited though so I would like to move on to something more capable eventually.

Remember we have 250 people so proportionally you may still be ahead.

Sorry that's our first level "Service Desk" (politically correct way to say Help Desk these days). This team is the folks that actually have to do work when something is broken, including in places where you have to "suit up"

Sometimes I kind of miss the days of showing up, fixing stuff all day, and then going home and being done with work. Then I remember what it is like to work with users all day. Also somehow the idea of an on-call week seems worse than responding to email most nights and I can't explain why.

Yea, I completely get that. My Dad owned a roofing company and there are days I think I would have been happier if I had stuck with that...then I remember wait, it's still roofing.
