Love the build. A very sane weight loss compare to the other one. Some random minor stuff:


1) I feel like the two parking cable support bracket are "optional parts". Have no idea why they're there. Part 46451B SU00300544 here: https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/toyo...-F7&group=4601


2) Since I never carry a spare and never plan on selling the car, I sawed off the spare wheel female thread in the bottom of the trunk. I mostly did this for the flat trunk space as I removed all the foam and laid down carpet back there. But maybe a few ounces of weight savings?

Thank you. Ive taken a little time off on the build just to see how everything works during the dead of winter. Ive got the dash bar semi swiss cheesed but its taking some time.


Your thinking is exactly what im looking for. Id have to see the bracket in person to see if its overkill. I imagine when I take apart the dash to replace the bar I will find some small unnecessary braces and things. Even if they are only .5lb each, 10 small unnecessary pieces would have a FREE 5lb loss.


Cutting the tow hooks is in the only mod done that can't be reversed easy so im not ready to cut out that female spare threading. I know I will get there soon as that is something I cut out of my old 3000gt
Im still looking for more things upfront to downsize since the rear is now very light

How's the 86 compared to the vette in terms of handling and 'fun'?

Instant power and acceleration the 86 can't keep up. But on a the twisties the 86 is a step up. There is a large wrap around offramp I take everyday to work The Vette can safely take ~55-60mph, the 86 can take it ~65 -70mph. Obviously can't fully push either on street roads but its a good enough test.

Love what you've done with the interior! Nice coilover choice! I've had mine for about 50k miles and they still ride great!

I’m not sure if you I have answered this previously but are you going install a roll cage with side intrusion bars now that you have carbon doors?

well its been awhile since ive updated this. I gave this project a break to build up a pathfinder and do some things to the vette.

Today ive found a seller of the dry carbon fenders from Seibon to get more weight off the front!!!!!

slightly disappointed this mod wont be saving more weight, not because the seibon fenders aren't light but the stock ones already are

Stock fenders 6lbs
Siebon 3 lbs
Total loss today = 6lbs

Coated them with some fresh wax is why they are shiny. You can see a slight shade difference since the doors have been out in the sun a year. The pics make it seem worse than in person





Fitment was great by the way. had to slightly Dremel open most of the holes which was similar to the trunk install

Also ordered that FactionFab Titanium exhaust with the BLack Friday Sale that should be another 13lbs lighter than my borla

Got my FactionFab Titanium Exhaust in today so here are the individual pieces to it weighed. Including the bolts, clamps ect comes to exactly 16.97 lbs. Its advertised at 17 WOW!

Also the inside diameter is 67mm (~2.64") Which makes its bigger than the 2.5" its advertised as! But not too big

Most stainless 2.5" exhausts are closer to 2.38" on the inside

The Tomei 60S is 14lbs with 60mm piping one muffler. So for 3lbs more you get a whole side of piping, another Muffler, Tip with 67mm piping with this.
