how strong are the tow hook mounts? you could probably fasion a mount the hooks on there so you dont have to have a perm trailer hook
i bring this up because a few members have fashioned fantastic bike racks utilizing those mounts:

While it's POSSIBLE to tow with cars, unless they're rated for it you could have the transit authorities all over your ass at a check stop. That's not a fun place to get caught.
That pic above of the forester towing the AE86 is scary. No way that dude is stopping if something jumps out in front of him. Nevermind the extra load on the drivetrain in a car that was only designed to haul itself + 4 adults. Brutal. |

Anyone pulling half that without trailer brakes is an accident waiting to happen.
I'd hope he had them. There are plenty of alternatives to a hardwired brake controller. And the tongue weight didn't necessarily look to bad there being a couple axle trailer. Iirc forester in the us is rated to pull around 2400 lbs with brakes, 1000 without, 150 tongue. In other countries its rated around the weight of the vehicle or a bit more. |

Liability
Quote:
![]() all about liability, yeah the wider tires and stiffer suspension I assume make the biggest difference, but you have to know what you’re doing, adjusting the load to find the desired tongue weight and feeling the load as you drive and driving according to that. Obviously you wouldn’t jump on the highway and do 75 for a cross country trip like some idiots do and end up flipping. But a couple miles doing 45-55 the car hasn’t felt it.
