The Challenger was/is what my ideal car would be right now, it was more of a cost reason that I went with the BRZ, it's a few thousand cheaper than a Challenger R/T (the Hemi is a must with the Challenger) and the Challenger as expected with a 5.7 Hemi gets way worse fuel economy.

Also for the haters, say what you will about it, but for a large car it handles pretty damn well, not like the BRZ does obviously, but still respectable given it's size. I came from a Dodge Magnum RT and the Challenger is just a shortened wheebase version of the same platform, and once I ditched the stock crappy Continentals on 18's for some nice Kumhos on 20's the way I could take that boat of car around windy roads was pretty impressive, even better when I could do it with 5 adults sitting comfortably in the car with a bunch of stuff in the back.

I don't even know about the car handling all that great. I mean, it wasn't Trans Am terrible, but compared to the GT Stang, and the SS Camaro, the car felt like a boat on wheels. The only car I can think of that rode worse was the 300 SRT8.

"feel" aka seat of your pants measurement and reality are two totally different things however, as much as you want to say a Challenger feels like a boat on wheels a 2011 SRT-8 Challenger pulls a lateral acceleration of .89g vs the BRZ's .90g, does the figure 8 in 25.6 secs @ .70g vs the BRZ's 26.2 secs @ .68g, and does 60-0 in 120ft vs the BRZ's 117ft per Motor Trend's road tests of the two cars, so as much as you want to say it handles like a boat the simple fact is that 4200 pound Challenger handles just as good as a 2800 pound BRZ.

Now yes, the 2 cars are no where near the same price range as each other, but despite it's huge size and weight the Challenger handles extremely well, and if it feels anything like my Magnum did which it should being based off a shortened wheelbase version of the same platform then it has a very balanced predictable handling, albeit with some noticeable body roll.

For the size and weight, the 300C SRT-8 handles great...certainly doesn't feel like a "boat"...and would probably spank a BRZ/FR-S on all but the tightest tracks...

I dunno, I like both, but I can't stand heavy cars.

I drove a 300C the other day and it felt heavier than my mom's Tribeca...

For the record, the Challenger is and always was classified as a pony car. Not a muscle car.
