WHAT? Heck fire lad the wife and I have been riding that area every fall for the last 20 years and it was a big deal at least a decade before that!
Oh, and there are lots of better roads if you go exploring in North Carolina and Georgia.

Was looking at the C-Gap on Google maps last week.
Looks like they've drilled a hole through now and there's not even a foot trail that goes over.

The tunnel was dug in the early 90s. Before that, one had to use the old Wilderness Road. You can see on the map where it is (was), now it's just a trail. I was carried down that way as a kid to visit my mother's kinfolk. That's where I learned how to talk -
