Unrelated, but mechanic got the bolt out. Took 2 hours of trying stuff, and then they ground it down and welded a hex bolt head to it. I suggested they try a nut over the torx head, but I think they drilled the old head out to try to tap it first.

That's the way they should have come from the factory -

My Grandparents owned a "cheese grade" dairy farm so they always had fresh butter, buttermilk, and of course "just from source and still warm" milk. I miss that stuff, but not enough to have a cow to milk!

I don't know why I didn't consider it is a hall sensor. Yeah, it does pull it's own separate 12v source for the actuator.

It was the factory that suggested I fake a throttle input. I guess I just have to give them a call, but since they got bought by Borgwarner they are a pain to get ahold of.

It should be easy enough to fake the throttle input but you will need a 5V power source. Even a phone battery will work (3.7V-4.2V). I'm sure there's a pull-sown resistor at the input. Check the input resistance to ground with a DMM and make a little voltage divider that includes a compatible potentiometer. I can draw up a quick schematic if will help.

My sensors are stored about 20 miles from home.

Thanks I appreciate it. No need for schematic. I think we are just going to mechanically actuate it. In the end I doubt we continue to use this controller much longer as the software doesn't work on anything beyond Windows XP and the new Gen 4's have more inputs.

Welp, as I remember, back on the farm, when I was very young, my grandmother would sit me down on the yellow, linoleum covered floor in the kitchen and place a churn full of cream in front of me.

She told me to crank the handle, to make butter. She really didn't care how fast I turned it. I asked, how long do I have to turn the crank? She said, until it won't turn anymore.

After a spell.

Gran ma-ma! I made butter! -

She said, good job and dumped out the butter and whey into a bowl and filled up the jar again, set it down and told me to make more. The second batch wasn't nearly as fun -
