Pretty sure that texture can just be peeled off. Not real sure what's under there, but when I had mine off, I noticed it was lifting off the back.

If we're talking about the trim piece that surrounds the stereo, flat black. I'd take a picture, but half of my interior, including that piece, is being worked on by an upholsterer right now.

That's what I was referring to, and no need to take a pic - I believe you. I assumed as much, but I was hoping it would be silver. Looks like I will be buying the silver BRZ pieces after all.
