About $1K difference. Go to KBB, under Used Car Prices, pick a year, i.e. 2015, Buy from a Private Party, and compare a Limited to a Series Blue BRZ, pick same condition and mileage. Price will vary with location. |

True, actual cost may vary, but I still think it's a good way to answer the OP's question.

as i had said, $500-1k. or in reality, haggling range of non-special-editions.

When I traded in my Scion FR-S 10 Series to buy my BMW M4, the blue book value was only slightly higher than a normal FRS but lower than a BRZ Limited. Should of bought a Subaru BRZ Limited back in 2013 instead.

I have a 2013 Recall-Edition FR-S. I hear it was one of the first ones made. In a few years (as long as my car's engine dosn't blow up) it's going to be worth a fortune!

I have a 2014 Monogram Edition, which was definitely worth more to me, if not to another buyer. The car has a lot of desirable features. I like the electronics and other refinements. I was looking for a BRZ when I found this one. I probably would not have bought a regular FRS.

Something else to consider is that while actual real world buyers might not pay more for a special edition, insurance companies might have to.
My last car was rear-ended and totaled, and I got a great deal from the insurance company on it because it was a special edition and they couldn't find any comparables. With no comparables, they have to start with average values of the standard model and go up because they're not an exact match. |

I "believe", all limited edition models here come with Brembo's.
In saying that, the other models, GT and GTS, Toyota anyway, can get the Brembo's as an option since 2017. The Brembo's are a attractive option for buyers. Limited colours don't really play a big part, my LE with Solar orange paint, with only 60 of them being released, seem to be holding better than others though. Conditions apply.

Answers keep coming in saying they sell for more but OPs question was "do they hold their value a little better". I read his question as do they devalue at a slower rate than a base model will.
If a special PP, recall edition or limited whatever costs thousands more when new and in 4 or 5 years are only $500-1000 more that doesn't seem like they are holding their value better to me. A base 86 is currently $26,455 and TRD version is $32,420. That's a difference of $5965. If anybody here is seeing a special edition of any sort staying almost $6k above a base model 4-5 years out with similar mileage please point it out. |

Most limited edition are only really cosmetic, which is novel for that year, for a while. Here in AU my LE 86 retail was $41k, the GTS was $36k, the LE typically comands more, but not $5k more at resale. Limited Editions are really gimmicks to keep the people with a little more cash than the general population happy. Most LE or any "special" editions fit in to this bill. Opinions may vary
