I think you mean "mite." But I believe Ichitaka is correct that "mina" is correct in that circumstance.

Boss asked me why i dont have a more reliable car after the turbo went on my car

i said because im using my weekend car for daily use and turbos are temperamental

he then asks me why i dont buy a 2nd car like you used to have

i answer because all my money has gone on bills that i am still behind though and i dont have enough money

boss changes the subject
