Heads up, every single time you wash it, do the car with McGuire's spray wax. I promise you will get a better shine/wax coat than when you bought the car. Takes about 20 mins to wax after washing.

Keep her nice, treat her with respect and love and she will reward you with a reliable fun car to drive for years to come. Welcome to the forum!

That is great news to hear! It makes sense the metallic in the paint helps hide dirt. And I’m going to give her a detail this weekend, so I will pick up some McGuires spray wax. I’ve always really liked their stuff. And yes, this FR-S will be treated well, maintained, and driven.

A few more interesting notes/observations:

I had a feeling my car was an inch or so lower than stock, and sure enough I saw red TRD springs in there. Nice! That is plenty stiff for me, in fact it’s very stiff.

I hear a lot of pings and pops from under the engine bay after my commute home. Is that normal? I haven’t had to fill the car up yet, so I’m not sure if they put in 93 octane.

I need to get an FR-S badge, the back looks a little naked without it.

Yeah I’ve never owned a car that can corner like this one. The WRX is lots of fun because of AWD, but it can’t hide all of its Impreza roots. The STi fixes some of that.
Dude, 10 years in a Corolla to a twin. It must feel like a go kart/Ferrari!
Thanks, it's a beautiful car! And yeah, it feels like a freaking go kart. Unfortunately I am spoiled to acceleration by sportbikes, so it doesn't feel very powerful, but the engine loves to rev and it's really fun to wind up Outside the track it's honestly more fun to put this through the gears than to be babying a literbike around in 2nd gear all day.

I recommend checking this thread out, too, I followed that method the other day and got amazing results.

Mine has too on particularly hot days, the owner's manual says it's normal. I've also had it happen on my corolla plenty, and mechanics have told me it's totally fine.

Yes, that's quite normal. It's just the sounds the heat shields around the exhaust manifold contracting as they cool.

White is good but Silver is the ultimate lazy mans color as it always looks good even when dirty.

The amount of flake in the grey makes it tricky to properly clean and not scratch, swirl or Marr the paint. The only color worse is black imo.
My neighbors probably think I'm crazy whenever I take out the air blower to dry my car after a wash.

Thanks! I’ve always thought white and silver were easy to keep clean!

Btw I was hoping to find a white FR-S, but this one came along and I grabbed it

The stock primacies aren't a fast tire, however they are very communicative.. they start squealing way before their grip limit, so you can easily approach the limit without hitting the "oh sh*t" point.

I can imagine nothing compares to a sport bike,
I’ve always been too chicken to ride one. Dirt bikes only. My brother has a KTM Duke 390 and he offered to let me ride it. I didn’t want to ruin myself or his bike. Haha!

Ok that makes me feel better you’ve also heard the ping sounds. It’s pretty hot here.

Silver is cheating a little, but I still like silver sports cars

This weekend I’m going to give it a good wash and see how the water beads up. And being used she already has some small scratches and chips, that just adds character right?! I *might* use a clay bar and really detail as best I can in the Fall. That’s hilarious about your neighbors looking at you like when you bust out the air blower. That’s why car crazy people need to stick together.

That’s the sense I get from these tires, and Toyota specd them for this car for a reason. I mean cost savings also, but these tires allow you to feel the “liveliness” of the car. Without being outright dangerous or anything. In a lot of reviews of the twins people scream right away “change the damn tires first!!” I agree they should be changed to a better performing tire at some point, but you don’t need to rush to the tire store and put R Comps on immediately. Also a good alignment is key, I need to do that.

On second thought, I examined the tails really closely (anybody walking by probably thought I was insane haha) and it really doesn’t look like they are sprayed red?? It’s almost like there is red film on the inside of the lens? I’ve never sprayed a taillight so I’m not sure how the surface looks/feels. Or do you mean the *inside* of the lens is sprayed?
