Once I had an astronomy lesson maybe 30 years ago in high school. I asked the teacher a few questions about black-holes. He said: "You are curious about something which is not real. This subject is just a waste of time." That man on the video reminds me that teacher.

I think his point was not that the theory was wrong but their method of proof was flawed.

I'm not a mathematician so what I understand-think is probably wrong, but as far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with the proof. It has some sub proofs, which all are clear as well. But I couldn't understand Edmund Copeland's (second video) proof's all steps. But he is a Professor in Nottingham University Physics department. He has many great, inspiring interviews. Which makes me think he might be telling the truth.

Yea, well, I know. I didn't watch 100% of it either, but did watch the first five minutes and the last 5 or so. In the end he shows the real point where the formula comes to the negative number but that if you sum all numbers up the actual answer is +Infinity.

The -1/12 is also correct but only in certain situations, and it does chart that way.

In the end he also laughs about how long it is and promises never to do it again.

I probably should have said "their method of explaining" rather than proof, which implies a mathematical certainty.

Yeah numberphile is a great series. They do kind of troll a little bit, but I love watching it. Mathologer and them go back and forth sometimes too. Mathologer is much drier but he is very good. Also he doesn't bait as much.
