Had a co-worker that's never driven anything large than a chevy cruze his entire life, i had paperwork to do on the way back from the job, so asked him to drive the full size, fully loaded work van back to the shop. The first turn, he took at 30mph and emptied an entire side of shelves, and then stopped for traffic like the 7,000 pound van had brembo's.. he did it a few other times, and didn't actually slow down until i finally told him in an act of desperation after trying every other common sense technique that HE was the one that needed to call the boss WHEN the van rolled over. That was the part that put the fear back in him enough to slow down. Best to teach them in something big and terrible from the beginning!

I wish my parents had introduced me to manuals. My dad hated having a manual, so they insisted that all cars we got had to be auto. Now 2 of us kids drive manuals regularly

Sold my 2006 WRB STi yesterday. I haven't had a job in over two years and there is nothing on the horizon. (Thanks Donald!) So, why keep a car I don't drive to go to a job I don't have? Most thought I'd be buried in it because I loved that car. However I wasn't giving it the love it needed as it was growing older. Sold it to a younger couple in the village who have two Suby's already so at least I'll still see it around. Both the wife's Monster 796 and my MV Agusta F3 675 are also up for sale. After they go I'll have to start selling off my guitar collection.

This discussion is actually a good argument against learning to drive in a Twin. It takes some effort to get them out of shape. Young driver develops a false sense of security.

Why would I want to? MV has pretty much walked away from Canada. I do not think there is an importer at this time. The Australian company that now owns MV America/MV USA (or what ever they call it) doesn't seem to be doing anything for us north of the border. There is one dealer, three hours drive away with no inventor. Also, one repair center, 2 1/2 hours away. That's IF... there is no traffic. But both are west of Toronto (I'm east) so add 1/2 to several hours to those estimates. All the other dealers (except a couple in Quebec) have dropped the line altogether. I can't get anyone to even look at it as a trade in on a car or motorcycle. So, it's time to get it gone!

The one feature I did think was useful was a floor level opening that you could just sweep stuff into. I think that would be great if you had kids and the opening was located near the kitchen table - ![]() humfrz |
