Good point. Ok, they just plain sucked for everyone.

That'll learn ya. Never ever ever give up your own bed.

Now take some of that fixed income and get a decent mattress for your guests.

Or should he get his guests to get a better mattress for themselves?

Well, it was a good bed, at one time. -

Reminds me of the time we went down to visit my parents for a week. After the first nigh of trying to sleep on their guest bed, we went into town and bought and had delivered a new bed for their guest bedroom.

Although my parents were grateful, my father said "what was wrong with the bed in that room, your mother and I slept on it for 20 years?"

I've been a scrawny weakling all my life. I'm currently the strongest I've ever been and it sometimes feels weird, like "Is this what normal people feel like?" Being strong is a fun thing, but having been weak makes me really appreciate it.

All that is to say, I never would've survived, so it's a good thing joining up was never on my mind. And if there had been a draft and I was selected, my asthma would've failed me anyways.

Welp, some of us had a head start on strength building, by being raised on a farm -

And if you had asthma you either grew out of it or died.

Yep, after a day in a hot hayloft, with a tin roof, your sweaty body covered with hay chaff and breathing the dust all day, definitely separated out the kids with hay fever. -

I had pretty nasty hay fever. The treatment was “wipe your nose and get back to work that hay isn’t going to stack itself”

Yep, putting up loose hay was the hardest work I ever did on a farm.

I was glad when we finally got a hay baler -

My childhood was a triple threat, my Grandfather owned a tobacco/cattle farm where I spent my summers and my Dad owned a roofing company where I worked during the non-summers.

I should be in much better shape...
