Yes, they lied so they wouldn't have to pay up. I don't think think that will fly anymore.

If they are going to be offering several versions of this car why not have different engine options as well?

Also, if this has been talked about 100x why are you still logging on? No one knows anything more about this car then what has already been discussed. Everything is pretty much speculation.

Yes but have you seen the Cobalt SS

Also the Cobalt will only make 300 after a tune while you have no clue what the ft86 will make after a tune as well (doubtfully 300 with no turbo but you cant compare tune to stock either way)

Cobalt also comes with a 5 speed and I deff want a 6 speed. The power to weight of a stock Cobalt SS is 11.3 which is worst than the 10.8 you complained about.

comparing one good trait of a car isnt going to help you here.

Can the Cobalt engine make more power with a tune? Yes, but what engine cant

Is the Cobalt a better package than the FT86 based off speculated info? Not by a long shot

I will say it again this car isnt built with drag in mind. Its all about the track and winding roads with this one. The FT86 isnt trying to be the powerhouse car but a revival of the simply joy of driving

Nissan lied about the output of the GTR but I think that was just to boast that it was much more underpowered than its rivals and murdering them all

Yes, you're right... but like Aliphian said, they stop doing that. For an example Infiniti Q45/Nissan Cima. That thing had v8 and claimed "280hp"... which was a totally lie. Result, Nissan got fined (can't remember exact amount). That's the one of the reason they stop making Q45

R35, Nissan already paid for it, so technically they're okay.

With CA laws, mine will not reach that until Greddy releases a $5,000 turbo kit for it.

I will be happy if I can bolt on and tune it to 200hp at the wheels.

Thank god for living in TN.. I probably hit up PTuning and have them fab me up a turbo kit from day 1. 300-350, meh don't matter...hell I'll even do 400whp if the engine is good for it.

Don't get why everyone so bent up on having minimal hp just because of what the car was meant to do. Truth be told, the car is meant to do whatever it is YOU want it to do. You want to drag, street race, road race, autox....who cares. More power is not taboo. That's why you address the rest of the car to handle that hp increase (wider rubber, softer compound tires, suspension, LSD...etc.)

I agree. I don't think most of us are against more power, we just don't expect it from the factory.

Anyway, the fact that Best Car is spreading rumors about a 250 and 308 hp version is interesting.

I guess some folks in Japan just don't understand that this car should be dog slow in a straight line and powering out of corners

Hard top Miata -- got it

Your welcome, and thanks for not being a douche!

300hp is a realistic number. Even if they did what GM did with the LNF, it could be factory tuned (with warranty) to 300hp which would be good enough for me.

If this car push over 280hp, I can guarantee you this car will put into Z, STI, Evo price range... now why you wanna bring dying high hp cars genre?
Being that you know everything what is the price placed on imported 280+hp cars? I had never heard 280hp was the limit, thanks for informing me.

This has been going on for ever! Think Hemi Cudas and Boss 429s, which were underrated by a lot more then 15%! Even the cars of today are still underestimating the power.

First of all, I don't know EVERYTHING! So please put word in my mouth. That's one thing pisses me off.

Lastly, Why older GT-R, NSX, Supra, FD, STi, Z, Evo, had a same HP numbers even tho some had more cylinders & liters?

HP arguments....its like bickering who's dong is bigger.

Power is easily (if not hindered by monetary restraints) gained. Overall car feel, balance, and general fun factor is something much harder to obtain if the car is a pos from the dealership and poorly engineered.

Don't you worry you little power mongers, you'll get your bolt on turbos, and whooosshing BoVs, and nitrous, and a computer that tells you manifold malfunction in your passenger side floorboard that you can yell "Shut up!" to as you slap it shut, and all the other things that make you wet your pants. /pat on the head
