it's just getting her to understand that it's ok is really not possible. I'm going to ask around and see if I can do it at someone else's house. but that's probably not going to happen. |

Give yourself a full day to do it the first time carefully. It's way easier than an AWD setup, but it's different. Look carefully at how I support the engine. That's a big help. Don't bother with the clutch itself.

it's basically remove the cover pieces underneath and the exhaust. use a ratchet strap to support the engine. take out the pins holding in the shifter. and then a handful of bolts holding the gearbox to the engine and voila. lower carefully and take out clutch. sure there's a few other steps but that's basically it. |

I've seen pics of you so I know you'll have no trouble bench pressing the trans out and back. You can rest the bell housing on the sway bar if you need.

The only thing I will add is to don’t even waste your time trying to remove that rubber boot from the linkage. Get a knife and cut that crap off and don’t replace it. I managed to waste a bunch of time trying to remove it without ripping it and ended up ripping it on the way back on. Also don’t make the mistake of thinking you can release this boot from the interior of the car because you can’t. The only way off is to stretch the crap out of it.
I know it’s already been said but do not underestimate the importance of supporting the front of the engine. If the tranny doesn’t slide right off then try raising/lowering the front of the engine to get the angle just right. There is a video of a guy removing the tranny in 20 mins and about 10 minutes of it is removing a cross threaded bolt on the over pipe. It really is that easy. So is pulling the engine. |

Guys, can anybody post a link to the TSB relating to TOB please. Not able to find it anywhere! Thanks in advance.
So I had the '2 metal rods brushing' each other noise at lower rpms when I press clutch before. This morning, cold start, its full on squeaking when I press the clutch when the car is at a standstill. When I press the depress the clutch completely, I even got the engine to stall. How much time do I have before I need to replace the TOB. Again thanks for all the posts regarding this topic |

Another thing you can do is remove the lower studs and that will give you some room to spin the transmission to line up the splines on the input shaft and the clutch disc. Also, make sure you leave the transmission in gear when you pull it out. There is nothing more frustrating than putting a transmission back and having the input shaft just spin when you are trying to rotate the transmission to line up the spline. Leaving it in gear will give the transmission a little resistance on the input shaft to keep it from rotating.
