It doesn't seem to be anything to do with the gas. I just filled up yesterday with 93 from Chevron. I can get my idle to drop in neutral just by activating the AC while the car is running. I'll record a video with my phone today and post it for you guys. But just to be clear, these are the steps I'm taking:
1 - with the car running in neutral, turn the fan on full without AC. Idle should be around 800 or 900 to start. 2 - activate the AC by pressing the button. When I do this the idle drops to 400. This is when I feel a small shudder. Then the idle will return to 900 on its own. I have no CEL yet and I also do not have a chrip. On my car, I can repeat these steps and have done many times yesterday. It was hot yesterday so I had time to play with the AC and that's how I discovered this. Now I need to go get some cone marks off my front bumper. Lol. bneale

It kinda feels like a slight misfire at idle. I feel it every so often. No CEL light, still drives smooth, doesnt sputter. But I guess maybe its the hot weather that affects the idle with no wind blowing by. Ill wait till it cools down later on the year before I take it in to the dealer.

Has never happened on my 04 STI or V4 STI swap wagon. Didn't happen on my 97 Coupe or my 02 WRX either.
I have an issue with the idle at random. Whether its right after I've come to a stop or just sitting there for a minute stuck at a light. Has happened with the a/c on and off, same for the brake pedal being pushed or not. Told my dealer about it today since I went in for my first oil change. |

I have definitely noticed an occasional rough idle while decelerating in this car. Didnt realize so many people had the same thing.

Here is a thread on the STI forums for the hiccup. http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2-5-lite...ling-idle.html Here is a thread on idle dips as well FYI. Part of why I say this is normal, unless your car is violently shaking and throwing CEL's. http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2-5-lite...-5k-miles.html |

An idle dip is not normal especially for a car that is stock and brand new. |

can't the ECU tuners set the idle a bit higher say 75rpm? that migh smooth things out with the A/C etc....the manufacturers always set idle low for emissions reasons and sometimes a small bump is all that is needed.

I just picked up my Ultramarine FR-S yesterday afternoon and put 130 miles on cruising around town/highway. When I was at highway speed I also heard a "chirp" about every 30 seconds roughly. It sounds like what Hawaiian posted - it sounds like the noise a smoke detector makes when it's low on batteries. It sounded like it was coming from the interior not the engine. Not sure what it is.

Agreed. When I worked at mike Shaw Toyota in corpus christi, when we would do the ecu recalls on corollas I would be instructed to haul Ass down the back roads (id go to 100-120mph then slow all the way down for each turn. It's so the ecu can recalibrate its self & relearn its boundrys. That's from what I was told. Didn't know that til I worked there.
