And you are correct, let people say what they will, once you close that hood it's gonna start heatsoaking everything and as is the inlet air is hotter than stock. I think people are getting overly defensive because they just want this kit to be the end all be all for this car, I see it as an appetite wetter, Don will sell alot of these kits and probably also improve it in the process and we will all learn from his hard work and dedication. but every system everywhere ever can be improved, Don has a goal here and he will likely achieve it, but don't let people fool you into thinking nothing else could be done, there's more than one way to skin a cat remember. |

I honestly think that running 7-8 psi with an appropriate intercooler (I am not God I could be wrong but it is my understanding), you can lower the temperature to match if it was coming in from the fender or front bumper. Take it easy man, this is not a war of us vs. them.... I have no biases here.

Are you crazy? This car is mediocre at drifting in stock form, maybe if you're drifting around an orange cone in a parking lot. It has neither the horsepower or torque needed to properly drift. Those are just the facts. Now the rest of the car is great for stock drifting, it just lacks power. If your drifting is only lasting 3 seconds or less then you're doing it wrong. Trust me, once this car gets a good 75+whp/wtq it will drift like a boss. And even still with that amount of power it won't be enough for a full drift course, but it will be good enough for me. Personally I'd like to be able to slide at above 50mph.

So how many people watching this forum are doing so with the intention of buying this kit in the near future? I know this is something I want and can't wait to get my hands on it

It did seem a super tough tranny for the car. So has anyone got the specs for the IS? Last edited by sierra; 07-18-2012 at 10:28 PM. |

I will buy it with no hesitation once the bugs are worked out and if the price is reasonable for what it is. Gives good fun until I get bored and swap a motor. Lol

In the end this is just your opinion on the matter, and I don't mean to be rude, but it sounds like lack of understanding of drifting. Go talk to any AE86 driver that slides on sustained drifts. Their cars only make a fraction of the power of this car, and they drift just fine, even at higher speeds. The car just required understanding and tons of practice, but once you got it, you got it. This will be the same thing. It's the AE86 is still loved to this day. |

I have had major heat soak issues in the past with cars that have had pods bolted on. The worst was a twin pod FD3S.
The Supra was pretty bad, it had huge increases in cold side FMIC temps once the engine bay was fully heat soaked. With a modified airbox (feeds from under the headlight) it made the same numbers on dyno but was far more stable on long runs on the track. Those were both packed engine bays and high boost high hp applications though, the 86 may have enough space and air flow for it to be a non issue.

Right here. My only thing is I'll wait about 3 years after getting the car (lol or try to) before I go the FI route. I'll have warranty, might as well make use of it
