Great idea about the location of the filter but really why is it so important for "cold air" to be taken into the turbo. It is getting cooled for density and all by the intercooler after it is heated from the turbo anyway.

The airbox was my initial thought. I then connected that to the vent idea as opposed to just sucking engine bay air into the box. Seemed to me like it would defeat the purpose.

The density of the air going into the turbo has a large impact on the efficiency of the system. You will never be able to cool the air enough with the intercooler to make up for the lost density, because no intercooler is 100% efficient. |

Good idea, I think a heat shield would good enough. Air box is a over kill and cost $$$

Nothing wrong with starting with cooler air from outside the engine bay rather than in it. Every little bit counts. A heat shield compartment would be ideal rather than a full box. I would rather have an air duct in the hood right there.

Where the foglights are, how about opening an air vent in there to force feed into an enclosed box

I get ya. Just wondering. My cold air intake had no affect on my intake temperature nor power on any of my previous other turbo cars

IMHO, with a charge of only 7-8 psi, I really don't see the big benefit of relocating the air intake duct. The IC will take care of that. Now if we were talking abut 20-25 psi, that's a whole different story.

Again, I'm not an expert but I'd think that a high compression ratio turbocharged N/A engine would be more sensitive to this sort of small stuff rather than a lower compression turbo car.
