I know the MX5 can do that if you buy the fancy suspension upgrade. On top of a already less practical and costing more one would have to buy this suspension.

Almost. Keep the over-door roof structure for rigidity. Would be tricky to get it to look right, but I think it could be done. Basically you wind up with a superficial removable roof panel with essentially the same structure as the coupe.

Fashion, like history... I see potential for a fun bathroom theme. Wouldn't rule it out.

Disagree. It would still be shit for longitudinal torsion. That's part of the magic of the production roof. It resists lateral shear way better than conventional, gently-curved ones. Compressive force flows right through those channels.

Let me rant lil bit here...

Recently, my step-dad was looking to buying an used truck (<$20k) by selling his VW CC and get a job. Today, I got a txt from my mom saying that, he went to local dealership buying '15 Ford F-150 EcoBoost that's costing well over $30k. Now, I don't have much problem w this if & of if 1. He have sht ton of retirement money, 2. have job & 3. have use for the truck. Well, I can tell you right now, he have NONE OF F'CKING THING. He forked over almost all of his retirement money (which my mom helped save up for him) to barely afford new VW CC several yrs back, which now he traded in barely getting $10k. Now, he got truck just to show it off to neighbors and his kids. He doesn't have job, so I don't even f'cking know how in the hell he gonna pay monthly loan and gas. I even told him, IDC if he look for truck, just avoid F-150 w aluminum body cuz I had a buddy who had one and just to repair small repair, he costed hellova a lot more than it needed to (long story)... & what he do? He fucking buy one w aluminum body.

Trying to be optimistic by thinking that, this might give him a motivation to get a job, instead of stay at home spending sht ton of money online and other sht... but atm it's hard. Also worried that his might give my mom more stress. When she get stress too much, she get sick badly. Thank god, I don't give w em, cuz if I did... I'll prob be dead by now w all the stresses.

Anyways, just had to rant it out & tell myself it's not my problem.

Well, first off, if this situation puts stress on your mother and you love her, it can be "your" problem, because it will stress you.

Is your mother employed?

How long has your step-father been out of work? What kind of work is he qualified to do?

How old is your step-father?

Since he has already bought the truck, there is not a hell of a lot you can do about the situation. Just be supportive of your mother.

Yeah, my mom is employed. She still got several yrs before she can retire.

He retired. He technically can work. Just too lazy to go back to work.

iirc he's 67... maybe 68?

Yeah, pretty much. Biggest issue is, my step-dad don't have any money management. I kid you not, my grandfather (my mom's father) have giving him shit ton of money through out their marriage... shit ton. Last time my mom and step-dad went back to see her family, grandfather have giving him money that can almost buy small condo. Because step-dad was complaining, he doesn't have money to retire (which was all his fault for spending on buying Tacoma & other shit). Within few month, he spend it all PLUS added debt on his credit card. I'm not only blaming him, but my mom for letting him keep that money. She knew he gonna spend it all. He's a good guy and tolerate my mom's craziness... but him w money just stresses my mom out and makes me stress out.

Don’t think I would either. I miss the sunroof from my previous car and some of my friends with convertibles make me actually want one at times. But I think that would mess with how the chassis handles and feels over all. MAYBE a targa, but meh. It’s perfect the way it is

Well, I can understand your concern about your parents financial security.

However, sometimes things have a way of working out. Hopefully, your step-father will come to the realization that he (and your mom) are going to have learn to live within their means.

If your father is drawing a pension or retirement from previous employment and eligible for social security, that would be his "base" income. The same with your mom (when she retires). Hopefully, their medical expenses will be largely covered by medicare.

At age 68, I doubt that your dad has a burning desire to go back to work full time, however, I feel he should be encouraged to go back to work part time (in order to give himself a sense of purpose).

There is not a hell of a lot you can do about their situation. Just encourage your step-father (IF he ask you) and be supportive (but firm - a tough love thing) with your mother.

In our quest to de-clutter 25 years of "stuff" from our house, I have laid on this dumpster to be delivered and emptied once a week for four weeks.

Pretty smart-huh? Not so fast. We loaded this puppy up while it was parked in front of our garage, but the truck didn't take it away today like scheduled. When I called, they said the dumpster has to be within five feet of the street -

Now, the city won't let me put it in the street nor on the sidewalk. So, that just leaves the driveway apron. Yes, "we" pushed the filled dumpster UP the driveway so it can be picked up tomorrow or Friday.

So, it looks like the dumpster will have to be parked on the driveway apron for the next three weeks.

Does anybody, that's heard about my backing up skills, including @Tcoat and @Ultramaroon that have witnessed them, see any problems with this picture -
