Can I use a second-hand EcuTek cable & dongle to flash my car?

I have the option of buying a used cable and dongle. Assuming that it works perfectly, can I use it to install a new license and tune onto my car? Is there such thing as a licence being 'married' to a cable rendering it useless with another licence?

I don't want to buy the cable and find out that I can't flash tunes with it with my own licence and tune.

Yes, you can use a second hand cable and dongle.

Licenses are married to your CAR, not the cable or dongle. However, when you buy a new license, EcuTek will distribute your license to your unique dongle ID and generated registration code.

Tunes may also sometimes be locked to your dongle, but that doesn't really matter unless you lose it. In that case, you can buy a new dongle. Then, if you contact your tuner, I'm sure they will send you another copy of the tune free of charge and link it to your new dongle.
