Lost Keys, Need New Fob/Reprogramming - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So I recently lost the smart key for my BRZ ('14, Limited) and the cabin rental place where I'm 95% sure I lost it at doesn't really seem all that proactive to try and find it.

I've been doing a lot of research trying to find the best way to program a new key fob without an existing one. Techstream seems to be fine with the FR-S key fobs (HYQ12BBY) but from what I've seen there isn't a way to program a virgin BRZ fob (HYQ14ACX) without going through a dealership.
For that, I'd have to get my car towed to a dealership, and from there they'd apparently have to remove the steering column, gauge cluster, etc and have them shipped off to be reprogrammed to a new fob, which I was quoted abotu $600 for, not including the tow.

TL; DR- does anyone know how to program a BRZ smart key to a car without an original key?

i was told at the dealer when i bought my car that without the little 'dog tag number' on the key ring, it's impossible. don't know how real it is, but i've got no reason to doubt it.

From what I've read, people have tried using the little silver tag to have a dealer reprogram it but haven't had any luck. I have no idea where that thing went anyways lol
