Chirping noise in engine
Anyone know if this is something to be concerned about?

Even without listening I can tell you it's most likely the fuel pump crickets, which is totally normal and expected, especially if you fill up with Petro Canada 94. Mine went away at some point, I'm at 50K km now, I can't remember when they went away
EDIT: listened and yep, it's the crickets

Ok great thanks. I bought the car used and it has 95000 km's on it though. Still normal?

I've heard tell that the higher ethanol content in that is what causes the chirping. It's what I use so it's aligned with my experience. There were anecdotes about people switching to Shell 91 and the crickets going away.

Thanks. My understanding is that Subaru recommends 93 - if so, will Shell Vpower suffice? How about using Esso 93 instead of Petro 94?

in my personal situation, my car only chirps when I use gas that contains ethanol. once I switched to ethanol free gas, it stopped and hasn't returned. I confirmed (for me) this theory during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria since we didn't have many choices of gas stations opened right after the hit and had to fill up on what ever 93 was available.

Be one with the crickets. They are your friends.

I use Petro 94. My crickets stopped after about 2 weeks consistently on 94 Petro.

No idea honestly, never tried them. Always filled up with 94 only and will be tuning it on that gas as well

Could also be the throwout bearing if it goes away when you clutch in.
