Are you saying that NOW the OP's trunk is going to fall off?

Wax, not glue!

3M has it in aerosol cans, we get it in a little brush-cap tin or liquid you spray in, using a fancy paint gun with a tube on it.

They paint it on everything to help with corrosion, especially on hardware and... cavities.

I had a discussion on this with my dealer some years ago. In certain geographic regions this is added by the factory. You can find it in different areas of the car and even on the engine. The instruction was to NOT REMOVE. It is used for protection.

Check an engine from a new WRX STI sold here:

(similar on the BRZ engine)

Fact is after some time it looks ugly and dirty, but I would say better to have more protection than looking nice and shiny with less protection.

I didn't say it was "glue". What I was meaning is that, will the OP's trunk rust away around those hinges - THEN fall off?

Sheesh - some of you guys are jest hard to get along with today -

Does weight loss make the car more tail happy? Could be a cheap upgrade.

I think I have this "glue" on some of my car's engine components. When I first saw it I thought something had leaked and then dried up.
