Anyone else's trunk look like this?

Ever since I bought the car it had this weird adhesive residue all around these braces, and they collect dirt and grime and make it look disgusting. Curious to see if this is a common issue or I had some kind of idiot putting together my trunk. Took about an hour to get them cleaned up with a toothbrush/mf/IPA.

That junk may have been to prevent rusting from surfaces rubbing, who knows. Mine also has it, but I left it alone because I'm a silly willy.

REALLY! That's disgusting, how long have you lived with that in your car's trunk?

I hope you used latex gloves and a respirator when you removed it -

So, you did a half assed job and didn't take off the hinge and clean underneath it?

It will just incubate and grow back out -

I hate to tell you this, but when you were in basic training/boot camp and had to clean under the rims of the toilets in the latrine with a toothbrush - you didn't need to carry that over into civilian life -

If you haven't figured it out by now, ol humfrz is "jest ah messen wich ya- ).

OK, I did go out and look at the trunk of my white 2013 FR-S and there is a small amount of residue around those hinges.

What am I going to do about it? - nothing!

My 2013 has it too. Cleaned what was fairly convenient with adhesive remover. Didn't care enough for the harder to reach spots

if you want a bad OCD moment. Remove the fender liner from the front wheelwell's and look back towards the driver door.

It's cavity wax. Look under/around any new car and the stuff is everywhere. We're supposed to reapply it to any bolts/nut/panel we touch.

Not that I care, but yes there are little things like that all over the car. I remember when I took out my back seat I found a couple of dead bugs under it that I'm pretty sure aren't native to North America. If automotive detailing is your thing, more power to you. I just drive, and sometimes work on the things. Usually poorly in both practices.

I apply a copper based anti-sieze that usually gunks up like that. That all to say, i still clean off excess. if the thing was really meant to be on the car the whole car would be covered in it

An auto detailer by trade, should NEVER detail their own car -
