Hm... it doesn't even hurt my mojo. If I see a FT-86 pull up next to me and chick driving it, hey~ I'll give her a thumbs up for having nice taste in car!

But there's a distinct difference between having tastes for an AE86 and tastes for a brand new sporty little compact that daddy bought her. /shrug |

Getting back on topic, yes, it will come with an auto. I want an FT-86 that's as light and fun to drive as possible, so I'll get mine with a manual. But I'm sure as hell not going to begrudge someone their auto if that's what they want. What other people want or need out of a car isn't the same as what I want or need, which is why options are a great thing. |

I was thinking they'd go with the Aisin 6 AT -- never even thought of a CVT. |

BTW, does Aisin have any dual clutch transmissions anyone know? Who makes the one in the IS-F? |

i'd imagine a 5AT would be on this car, at the very least.

The ISF doesnt have a dual clutch, Toyoda said using one made it not feel like its not shifting or something, so they went the route thet ferarri went with their f1 gearboxes and makes it shift within i think its 200 milliseconds. Im thinking it will at least have a 5at. CVT just plain suck. Either way, an auto will be gearded toward gas milage. |

this isn't the isf though, which is a car that is twice as much.
i would def. not expect anything more than 6 in auto form, and more than likely just 5. a cvt would ruin the fun I'd imagine, but who knows. i could totally see the automatic as paddle shifters or something dorky- to try and keep the image of 'sportiness' |

I highly doubt paddle shifter isn't coming to this car... well that's my hope is anyways.

I just don't see this car starting out with a paddle-shifter option. |

i would personally rather have 3 pedals and an H-pattern between the two front seats.
