For cost comparisons, yes, but my understanding is that there are only minimal gains from most of the exhaust system beyond the header. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm okay with sacrificing 3-4 HP for the right sound.

The Perrin 2.5” Resonated Catback is also a great option. No drone, nice sound, and low volume. I can’t take the loud anymore, and this has fit the bill nicely, especially paired with my JDL UEL and JDL UQFP.

Have a catless JDL UEL and Corsa catback. Quiet at idle, louder than most under normal acceleration and it absolutely screams under WOT.

If you have a +'17 MT car with the updated exhaust manifold the gains just from a catback system could be even less. Even if the gains are the same, what tuners don't mention too much is that catbacks have bigger exhaust diameter. Making the exhaust diameter bigger is an easy (and cheap) way to lower the backpressure which is good, but at the same time it makes the gas flow speed slower which is bad and affects low to mid range torque. This is visible especially when you start from standstill or when powering out of low-speed corners. A bigger diameter exhaust makes more sense if you go FI or if you change how engine breaths (e.g. cams) or if you make many many changes to the engine tune and go far away from factory specs. I believe that the STI axleback is one of the best choices with a 13% lower backpressure and without any change in the gas flow speed. There is a reason that it costs the same or even more than a "quality" catback system.

Your first post was primarily focused on the right sound. Comparing axleback and catback systems is not really fair, as the factory midpipe usually suppresses a lot of sound because of how the factory resonator is constructed.

Never mentioned anything about power output. Cost-wise, the STi axleback exhaust is more expensive than 99% of the catbacks on the market.
