Same here. The floor mats are like new on my 2013. Some of you folks are just wearing the wrong kind of footwear to drive -

I had my 10 series from new for three years and loved the car. But when the lease came to an end, it was thousands over book value to buy it out. I just couldn’t justify it. Obviously it’s been a couple of years since then, but I guess you could say I’m getting used to it being gone.

Don’t worry though, it’s not a story without a happy ending

What is CR ? I know it's an acronym of some kind, please elaborate.

You just don't drive enough. I wore a hole through my stock mat where my heel rests the first year I had the car.

My first trip when i bought it was to the weathertech facility. They didn't even officially approve them for fitment yet for the '14's.

After working at a saab dealer for a few years, i knew the oem cloth mats wouldn't last any more than a few months. I once had a stack of over a dozen sets of saab mats with the gas pedal heel worn through.

My next set will be WeatherTecs. Uglier, and more expensive, but they are tough.
How did they wear poorly? This was my fear when i first saw them, they look impossible to clean

Compression ratio. It's pretty high on our cars at 12.5:1.

They kind of turn off-black/gray 'cause of ground-in dirt, but I could have lived with that. The emblem ("Spider 3D" or something like that) is just a cheap piece of metal or metallicized plastic that bends easily when your heals drag over it, and it eventually breaks off and looks stupid. I loved them when I put them in, just like I loved my SARD seat covers.. they both looked awesome and very OEM-fitting. Neither held up particularly well over 50,000 miles and three central NYS winters. In the grand scheme of things, I guess the cost amortized over three years for both items (about $166/yr total) isn't that bad for the use and protection I got out of them.

So the higher the compression ratio, the greater the effect down shifting becomes ? I never knew that, if that's indeed true.

I downshift, it just depends on the situation, but usually it's one gear at a time 6th to 5th , or 5th to 4th , 4th to 3rd. Sometimes I'll go 4th to 2nd gear, if I go from 40 mph…. down to 20mph fast ( brake, or engine braking + downshift). I'll say in the last few years, I've been doing more braking… then downshifting ( I'd rather replace brake pads, then to go thru a clutch faster) … but it depends on the situation.

I went thru 2 sets of stock mats the first year. I had some custom ones made with berber, black with red edge stitching, and with a heal pad from some on line place. I don't remember them being very expensive, and you could buy just the front two.
