I don't think ours was nearly as bad, but when my family moved up to the bay area years ago we had a similar situation. The house my parents bought was like half renovated, half trash. The crawl space beneath the house, the garage, the "backyard", etc. had all kinds of shit the previous owners/tenants left behind. Such a pain in the ass to get rid of all that and then do _a lot_ of thorough re-cleaning of things to decontaminate them. Of course our painter commented at the time that the house may have also been used as a weed-growing shop or something because the type of paint used before and the condition it was in was as if it were used for that kind of environment. Plus all the doors at the time had keyed locks, like legit locks, not just the pinhole basic locks bedrooms typically have.

Good luck though, sounds like a lot of work. But also a chance to sort of renew that property if you have the patience for it.

It isn't that bad. I can see past the dirt. It is a very nice custom build house, on a nice flat property in a very nice little 3-4 block sub division. If this all works out, I think we will be happy there.

That reminds me, my Dad, the math professor, was always an advocate for letting students use calculators for exams. He said, it doesn't do you any good if you don't know the formula to begin with.
