Great car clubs have something for everyone. Autocross, shows, rallys (not the kind racing on dirt), meets, driving schools, track days, social events, etc.. You don't have to track to be a car guy.

I still have a tough time proclaiming myself to be a car guy because, for me, it comes down to maintenance and repair of machines in general. I just appreciate good craftsmanship.

I don't really care about the manufacturer. Any machine can be picked apart and studied. I just happen to own this one so I'm committed to learning it as best as I can. This particular mixture of ingenuity and boneheaded oversights keeps me entertained as well as any other.
